Mobile hotspot plan: 1G network for Rs 1,200 per month, 5G hotspot for Rs 2,600 per month
A plan to set up a 1G (Gigabit) mobile hotspots, called the 1G Mobile Hotspot Plan, has been floated by the telecom regulator, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), and is expected to be rolled out by the end of this month.
The 1G Hotspot plan will cost around Rs 1.6 lakh per month per SIM, with a maximum usage of five days per month.
The regulator said it will also launch the 1Million SIM plan, which will cost Rs 1 lakh per SIM and offer unlimited 1G roaming in the country for Rs 15,000 per month and a maximum of 20 hours of calls per month for the first three months.
The plan will be rolled-out from September 2017.
The telecom regulator also said that it is considering setting up a 3G network, and is planning to offer a 3,500-MB data plan at a lower price than the 2G plan.
The regulator also clarified that the 3G plans are expected to cost less than the 1GB plan.
