Which is the best smartphone for gamers?
In an industry that has struggled to find a consistent set of benchmarks, smartphone game developers are now looking to one of the most important ones.
According to a report from The Sports Bible, the most popular smartphone game on the market is called Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, which has a total of 8.5 million registered users in its first week of availability.
This comes after an initial launch in March and an expansion that doubled the number of players in a single day in August.
The report also points to Super Smash Brothers Melee for the Nintendo 3D and Wii U, which had a similar number of users in August, and a number of popular titles like Minecraft: Wii U Edition, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.
“The Nintendo Switch has been able to capture the hearts and minds of a new generation of gamers and they’ve also brought us more games and titles to play, including many we’ve never seen before,” said Tom Brammeier, chief executive of The Sports Book.
“As a result, the Nintendo Switch is now the top-selling smartphone of all time.”
The latest iteration of Super Smash Broads for Nintendo Switch launched in the UK and Europe on the 24th August and is set to be released in North America in October.
